August 2024, Shinjuku Pit Inn. We performed original songs written for a last-minute, first-time meeting session live.
After the performance, Kiyotaka Hirai, head of the doLuck Jazz label, rushed over and said, “I can already picture the scene of recording with this band.” That’s how this septet and project began.
Following that, through live performances and rehearsals at venues like Akasaka Bb and Kofu Sakuraza, we refined our sound through trial and error. Recording took place at Studio 8 in Gunma in April 2025, with the release following in November. At the Asagaya Jazz Street in October, we welcomed Ema (vocals), adding new colors to our sound and expanding our repertoire of standards. This connection led to her joining us again as a guest for this project.
The theme for the composition and arrangement that sparked this project came from inspiration gained while teaching jazz to children in Europe during the summer of 2023, combined with a session live performance during summer vacation. This led to the idea: “Let's borrow the format of jazz and use my childhood summer memories as a theme to paint a musical picture diary, expressing the Japanese sensibilities and aesthetic sense within me.” I am truly delighted that we can present this release commemorative live performance once again from Shinjuku Pit Inn in Tokyo.
This performance marks a milestone for the project and the beginning of new challenges as we head into Season 2. We would be delighted if you could come enjoy the unique sound that only we can create right now.
