''For me, an improvisation session is like each person taking a parallel path towards a certain destination. It is a kind of adventure. Through music, we aim to communicate with each other not only through words, but also through feelings and intuition, and to reach new horizons through the chemical reactions of the energy and vibrations that occur in the moment." - Yoko Miura
Recently, I have been going to Europe once a year to perform, and I have been keeping my activities in Japan low-key, but when I came to Tokyo last year, I talked to Yoshio Suzuki, the bass player I hadn't seen in a while, and decided to give this a try. I've known Chin-san (Mr. Yoshio Suzuki) since he returned from New York, and I think it's wonderful that his attitude of wanting to cherish “song” has never changed. Even after he had established himself as a jazz bassist, he tried playing the piano himself, appreciated my performance, and lent me a hand in various ways, even though our genres were completely different. I feel that he is also interested in improvisation. (He will be performing with us as a guest on the day.) There is much to be learned from his attitude of facing music with single-minded dedication as a challenger, and although it may be the first and last time, it is certain to be an interesting experience.
