On the 9th , it will be the first PHONOLITE in 3 years. It has been 20 years since its formation. I am already looking forward to playing in an ensemble for the first time in a long time with all of my trusted members. Guest Naomi Araki will sing from her solo album '1964’, which I was able to participate in during this Covid pandemic while communicating with her remotely.

It has been four years since I moved to Inadani, Nagano Prefecture. The air is dry and the climate is relatively mild and pleasant (though the winters are cold...) I spend my days cooking with delicious local ingredients and going to the riverbanks and parks to practice my instrument. Under the wide sky, listening to the birds and insects, feeling the sunlight and wind on my skin, I may never have faced the sound of my double bass so slowly and quietly before. The feeling is naturally cool, and rich music comes to mind along with various sounds. Then I load up my car with instruments and equipment and head out to perform in the west and east. Once I get on the highway five minutes from home, I rarely have to worry about traffic jams. It is fun to drive a car anywhere in a relaxed and carefree manner alone. Perhaps the time I spent holed up in my hometown due to the Covid pandemic was not in vain. I have made many wonderful friends. Many musicians have moved here. It is refreshing and stimulating to play with people I never met when I was active in Tokyo, and to plan events and live shows with them. We hope to deliver the sound enveloping those experiences in a tangible way.
