"It's time to open the doors again!"
This year, we resumed our European tour after a long absence. While I was stuck at home because of the pandemic, interesting musicians were emerging all over the world, and I came back to Japan thinking that this is no time to be carefree and grow old. Times are tough, but I feel that music is becoming more and more interesting. So, I asked Misaki Motofuji, Kei Matsumaru, and Mikiko Nagatake, a group of very talented musicians whom I had just met, to curate a set, and each of these three invited someone they wanted to pair with me. I am really looking forward to improvising with people I will meet for the first time. At the same time, we hope that it will also be a place where new movements can meet with living legends Gozo Yoshimasu and Yosuke Yamashita, whom we respect and admire. Of course, the regular ONJQ and special big bands will be further refined for the European tour scheduled for next year and beyond. It's time to open the door again, which has been closed for a while, I think.
