Raw samples, rich arrangements for wind and string instruments, bilingual raps, and meticulous improvisation - all combine with Aaron Choulai's unique compositional approach on this album 'Raw Denshi'. Choulai, who is a renowned pianist and respected beatmaker in Tokyo, released his new album in which he created complex soundscapes and structures, featuring MCs and vocalists from the forefront of the Japanese music scene. The sounds of jazzmen who skillfully played at the highest level in Australia and Japan were chopped using SP-404s and MPCs in the J Dilla-style, and were combined with Choulai's techniques as a composer and a pianist. In this way, by shedding light on the musical connections between Tokyo and Melbourne, the album shows Choulai's duality in various unique ways. Raw Denshi maintains a delicate balance of contrasts and collaborations between man and machine, English and Japanese, hip-hop and jazz.
