At the end of this year, we'll be back for eight consecutive shows in four days! I can't tell you how happy I am that even though it's still not quite perfect, the live scene is starting to come back to life, even if only little by little.
On the 26th, we will perform both day and night with the Small Stone Quintet, which may become a new unit.
On the 27th, I will perform a trio with Shun Ishiwaka and Tokutaro Hosoi at the daytime show, which I have been longing to perform with. In the evening, we will be joined by Hiroshi Yamazaki, the pioneer of free drumming in Japan, for a quartet.
On the 28th, we will be joined by Masahiko Satoh, another veteran and the only one who has pioneered bilingual music in Japan from the very beginning. In the evening, I will perform GEKIBAN, which is a harder live music version of my TV drama/film scores. From the soundtracks of Hong Kong movies to the songs of TV dramas, please enjoy them along with the talk.
The final day of the event, the 29th, will be the last performance of the year by Otomo Yoshihide's special big band, both day and night.
This time, all eight performances will be a mixture of composition and improvisation in various balances.
To be honest, I'm happy just to be able to spend four days with such a luxurious group of people, but it's not just the joy of being together, I hope that each performance will be a new and fresh set for the future.
