For this year's 3DAYS, I will be performing a duet with Yosuke Yamashita and Otomo Yoshihide for two days. I turned 58 this year, and I can feel that both Otomo, who celebrated his 60th birthday earlier than me, and Yamashita, who is about to celebrate another 20 years after his 60th birthday, are evolving, withering, and becoming more mature in what should be considered a masterful style.
On the other day, the newly formed 'Naruyoshi Kikuchi Quintet' will perform with the young members Shu Akimoto (ds), Masaki Hayashi (p), Yosuke Miyajima (g), and the even younger Yuka Konishi (b). The quintet will play the good old standards with improvised counterpoint lines like ‘Undercurrent', and the more you are a jazz fanatic, the more you will enjoy it.
