Something truly shocking happened last year: the sudden passing of Jack DeJohnette, whom I deeply respect. It was so sudden that I’m at a loss for words, but out of a desire to pay my respects to Jack DeJohnette—whom I hold in such high regard—I decided to dedicate the first day to a Jack DeJohnette tribute. And with that very lineup, no less.
On the second day, the Organ Quartet will make their debut performance at Pit Inn.
Although the four members have completely different personalities, the way they connect and come together as one is incredibly refreshing. They’re all so cheerful and funky—it’s just so much fun to play with them. We’ll also be featuring the laid-back vocals from “Billie Jean.”
On the final day, as you know, it’s the Takehiro Honda Tribute Band.
Carrying on the legacy of Takehiro Honda, a giant of the Japanese jazz scene, top-tier musicians will breathe new life into his songs with overwhelming passion and explosive energy.
The Tamaya Honda 3DAYS has become an annual tradition. We look forward to seeing you there.
