I’ve been aware of this for a while, that I am a moody drummer. If I am in good shape, my tempo runs, and if I am sad, my time lags. Emotions prevail over rules. But I don’t consider it against the rules. I’m just trying so hard. My emotions win out over the rules. I admire drummers who are unmatched in accuracy. “But just for today, let’s let go of our admiration.” Accuracy and rules are both important.

But I’ll devote a little more time to emotional expression.
