6th BW4(Burning Wave Quartet) Special Edition
Toshiyuki Honda (ss, as), Soichi Noriki (key, p), Gregg Lee(eb), Special Support: Kanade Sato(ds), Special Guest: Hiroki Miyano (g)
■Well then, we’re doing Golden Week 2DAYS again this year♪
A double bill featuring the DUO unit “Hon Nori” and the regular group “BW4”♪
Plus, we’re thrilled to have master Ovation player Hiroki Miyano joining both units as a special guest. And for BW4, we’re also welcoming rising star drummer Kanade Sato as special support.
Hiroki Miyano has been a comrade-in-arms since those days, participating in Burning Wave’s live shows and albums, while I’ve contributed to his albums. Noriki also played in a band with Miyano, so we’ve always been very close.
Kanade Sato has been hugely active in projects like “Muses” and “KOIAI,” and recently she’s also joined my “RADIO CLUB.” How will the chemistry between BW4 and this highly acclaimed “Drum Princess” unfold!?
And for the “Hon Nori” set, Miyano’s participation in both sessions promises an unprecedented, supreme acoustic trio experience.
Both days are essential listening and viewing!

In 2026, I will once again be presenting May Inoue’s 3-Day, 6-Performance Series (day and night shows).
We’re moving this May!
We’ll kick things off on the first day with Marty Holoubek, Gensuke Kanki, and Marty’s Trio V, which has been performing recently. The three of us have played a few sets acoustically without microphones, but we’re planning to mix things up a bit for this show. It’s going to be super acoustic!
The first night features the Tokyo Quartet, who released an album last year. This time, they’ll be performing with Shota Watanabe on piano!
For the daytime set on Day 2, I’ll be joining the world of Yudai Ono and Takezo Yamada -something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m hoping to blend right into the incredibly captivating sound they’ve built up over the years!
For the daytime set on Day 3, I’ll be performing the solo set that I used to do on the first day every year – but this year, it’ll be on the final day! I hope to deliver a performance that incorporates creative ideas and sound design. My goal is to create a set that evolves every year.
On the evenings of the second and third days: STEREO CHAMP
A band with a strong sense of style that will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year. With the recent addition of James Macaulay, we’re aiming to create a whole new sound. We’ve written plenty of songs for our upcoming album, so we’ll be delivering a full-on performance with the same lineup over these two nights.

The first day features iKERBDB. This is a group that has been exploring Ornette Coleman-esque polyrhythms and Shannon Jackson-style groove music.
The second day is an evening of improvisation with Masahiko Satoh, a tradition we’ve been continuing for the past few years. This time, however, I’m thinking of experimenting with various combinations, centering on Junji Hirose’s new unit, “Hikanyo,” which launched earlier this year.
Day 3 marks the debut of a new band featuring saxophonist Motoharu and bassist Iwami. This is the launch of a new saxophone trio that emerged from MoGoToYoYo, whose activities had come to a halt due to the pandemic. Keep an eye out for guest artist Yusei Takahashi, who makes full use of electronics as well as the piano. I’m excited to see where this goes.
Continuing from last year, Yoshigaki-Hosomi-Iga-Yoshida will be joined by Tokutaro Hosoi, who performs with them in Plays Carla Bley. It’s sure to be a fiery set.
On the final day, a large ensemble aiming to bring jazz to the Third World will take the stage. Come witness our tribute to Great Black Music, as exemplified by AEOC and Brass Fantasy.
We look forward to seeing you there.
