The opening night on Friday, November 7th features the regular band BW4 (Burning Wave Quartet). This band started in 2010, so it’s been going for 15 years now. Its original form was Burning Wave, which began in 1978. Both Soichi Noriki and Shingo Okudaira were involved back in 1980, so it’s been a long association. We were all young back then—Okudaira was practically still in short pants (lol). Then Gregg Lee joined and stirred things up! An ultra-fusion band covering every genre! Don’t miss it!
Saturday, November 8th: Super Double Guitar Session♫ . This twin guitar style originated at the Nagano City Jazz Festival. The event was such a huge success that we decided to definitely perform in Tokyo too, and this time we’re thrilled to have an even more exciting lineup joining us. We’ve played gigs together before, but this is our first time performing as a group. Personally, this is my first time meeting bassist Juna Serita—nice to meet you! The chemistry transcending generations is a must-hear and must-see.
The final day, Sunday, November 9th, features one of my life’s works: a saxophone ensemble with piano accompaniment♪ . The group appearing here is a saxophone quartet that enjoys overwhelming support from a wide range of audiences—a quartet Japan proudly presents to the world. We’ve played together and recorded albums with each member before, but this is the first time the full ‘Quatuor B’ lineup has come together—what a delightful development! The group’s name comes from the fact that all members have blood type B. Please savor the “sound” woven by this group of super-talented individuals.
